About Rosalba

Rosalba Dominguez was raised to put community first. Born at the University of Utah to young, first-generation Mexican-American parents, she grew up in a large, close-knit working-class family where her father taught her that if someone needed help, you showed up. Curious and well-read, she was translating traffic laws for her Tía by age six, always asking questions and, as she puts it, "getting in trouble" for wanting to try everything. As one of five girls among more than thirty cousins, she grew up proud of her Mexican heritage.

Inspired by Latino leaders like Dolores Huerta and local change-makers, Rosalba got involved early through student government, community organizing, and helping families in need. She refused to shrink herself to fit any space, wanting others to see someone who looked like them and know they belonged, too.

After college, student loan debt shaped major decisions, including starting a family and buying a home, sharpening her focus on education, housing, and affordability. Elected to the Murray City Council in 2019, she took office in January 2020, just as COVID-19 hit, and saw how much a conversation can change when someone keeps asking hard questions.

Today, Rosalba represents House District 35 in the Utah House of Representatives. She sees public service as a privilege and believes that speaking up, even when an idea doesn't become law right away, can make waves that become tides of hope. She is committed to investing in young people, truly listening to Utahns, and ensuring everyone knows they have a place and a voice in the process.
